From Housewife To Salesforce Administrator

What did you think? That this transition isn’t possible?
From a housewife to a techie earning cool cash?
Oxford Languages defines a housewife as “a woman whose main occupation is caring for her family, managing household affairs, and doing housework, while her husband or partner goes out to work”. So when we say housewife, we’re referring to a woman who isn’t working for money but spends her time caring for family and managing the home. Our star woman for today spent 10 years as a housewife before kick-starting a career in tech.
If you are a housewife and you were looking for something to nudge you to build a career for yourself, this is the sign you have been waiting for.
There couldn’t be a bolder sign than this. Meet Jennifer, not Jennifer from Jennifer diaries, but Jennifer, one of the ‘big girls’ in Salesforce Administration.
Meet Jennifer, an amazing mother of three who started an amazing career as a Salesforce Administrator even after being away from the workforce for as long as 10 years.
The Stay Home Mum
Mothers, wives, and all who have seen it happen, you’ll agree that it is not easy to raise children or take care of a home. In fact, it is one of the most draining tasks anyone can do. Some women break down under the weight of these responsibilities and lose themselves, especially when handling it with other demanding responsibilities like building a career.
To help the home run well, some women in agreement with their spouse stop working for some time, or even permanently. Husband takes care of the financial responsibilities and the wife handles the hefty responsibility of home management, etc.
Jennifer wore such a shoe for over 10 years. She became a stay home mum when she got pregnant with her second child. It was a well-thought decision made by her and her husband. All through her years as a stay home mum, she was loved by her husband and cherished by her three kids, and the home thrived brilliantly!
Somewhere she worked as a teacher but stopped shortly after to attend to more pressing responsibilities.
Disaster ?…
Life is unpredictable and it can surprise us in ways we wouldn’t even imagine. Jennifer’s world experienced great turbulence as her husband fell chronically ill and sadly passed on. Jennifer shared with us how hard it was to cope with the sad reality, especially when another blow struck — her husband’s family took all she and her husband had worked for.
You should know that in Eastern Nigeria, it is a common occurrence that when a woman loses her
husband, husband’s family accuses her of being responsible for his death. That’s not all, they collect her husband’s properties thereafter and leave her and her children without anything. Sometimes, the woman is forced to marry one of the man’s living relatives — in most cases, his brother.
Thankfully, Jennifer wasn’t forced to remarry, but she lost all her husband’s material possessions to her in-laws. You see how messed up that is, right? Jennifer, the children, how would they cope?
Jennifer took legal steps against them which hopefully works in her favor. And she didn’t stop there, she didn’t give up on herself, rather, she pushed on and sought a career that can help her care for her needs and that of her families even in the face of hefty challenges.
Jennifer represents those women who keep their heads high in spite and despite. She is our inspirational woman for the week and we are super proud of her achievements. She didn’t just seek help with starting all over again, she accepted it when it came and worked hard to make her dreams a reality. Please read on to finish the story.
Bold step!??
Let’s borrow two quotes from some names you may be familiar with:
“She was powerful not because she wasn’t scared but because she went on so strongly, despite the fear.” – Atticus
“The world needs strong women. Women who will lift and build others, who will love and be loved, women who live bravely, both tender and fierce, women of indomitable will.” – Amy Tenney
Both of these quotes described a woman like Jennifer: a strong resilient woman who would still rise in the face of a storm and become a highly successful career woman.
Jennifer met us and that was the start of a new story that ends with Jennifer becoming a top paid Salesforce Administrator.
